Tried pizza and wings tonight. Good flavor soft bread..only change I would ask for is baked wings. The prices are extremely reasonable and the ambiance is quaint and clean with more than enough comfortable seating.

As I have mentioned in my other reviews regarding pizza in this area, I am passively in-search of Central-PA's best pizza. Though I am currently 100% satisfied with Boston Express, and currently fully believe that they are, indeed, the best; I am anything but narrow-minded and un-objective. As such, on weekends, I still like to sample other pizza places in-case I have dubbed Boston Express 'king' too prematurely. Zag's has not changed my opinion. Food: For me, pizza is all about the harmonious combination of fresh ingredients on top of a dough that has a crispy exterior, and a soft, tender, and doughy interior. Unfortunately, Zag's did not stack-up to what I consider to be a well-balanced pie. Like so many other pizza places before it, and (likely) so many after it, their pizza is way to heavy-handed on the cheese. Everyone always wants more cheese; well, sometimes, more is not better. In this particular case, more was not better. Cheese: There was a lot of it, and it was not cooked properly. It was damn-good cheese; but if I wanted cheese and dough, I would have made myself a grilled cheese sandwich with mozzarella. Additionally, the cheese was not cooked so that it got those golden-brown bubbles of awesomeness. This prevents the cheese from fully developing its potential flavor, and also prevents it from achieving its full potential in texture as well. The flavor of the cheese was undoubtedly the best part of the pie. (3 / 5) Sauce: Hard to rate because it was almost non-existent. No, the sauce is not the most important part of a pie; but it is equally as important as the other two main components. The sauce is where you get that slightly acidic, slightly sweet, fresh flavor from. It is what changes a pizza from a one-note grilled cheese sandwich, into a pizza. There was very little sauce on this pizza. Now, this may have been further exacerbated by the excess of cheese; but I got nearly-zero sauce flavor. (2 / 5) Dough: The bottom of the crust had a decent texture to it; but it was a little bit stiff. My main complaint was the crust. It had a crispy-breadstick-like consistency, and not in a good way. Usually, one of my favorite parts is the crust Not here. This crust was dry, and entirely crispy. No tender, soft, deliciousness underneath the crispiness -- just more dry crispiness. I threw the crust away .. a crime as far as I'm concerned. I saw a squad-car drive down Carlisle Pike on my way out the door and thought they were picking-me-up for sure. (2 / 5) Overall Pizza Score: 2 / 5 Service: The service was a little bit 'cold' but it did not necessarily fall outside the realm of what I expected. What did fall outside the realm of what I expected (and it will be further reflected in the 'Price' section below), is that I figured that $2 for one slice of cheese would have covered the cost. When he rung-me-out, he said $2.11. I was surprised, and told him that I needed to run to my car where I had an additional .11 cents. If it were me, at that point I would have immediately identified this as a new customer and said, 'don't worry about it'. Instead, I ran out to my car and got the .11 cents. Do I mind paying the .11 cents? No. Is it the price of a slice of pizza? Yes. But, it would have been a good opportunity for them to go above-and-beyond the regular level of service. Service: 2 / 5 Atmosphere: I really liked the atmosphere, and wished that I liked the food better because I could definitely see myself coming back here again-and-again. It was clean, classy, and had a general feel of coziness. There was a strange smell emanating from the bathroom area that was a little overpowering; but I did not investigate. Atmosphere: 4 / 5 Price: I am used to paying about 1.50 for a slice of cheese pizza. 2.11 is 40% higher than that. The pizza was not 40% better either, in fact, compared to Boston Express, it may be 40% worse. As such, I did not get my money's-worth for what I was served, and consider this so be a terrible deal. Price: 1 / 5 Final Thoughts: Congratulations Boston Express, you are still #1 for me in Central PA. Zag's pizza was not well-balanced and lacked the well-roundedness of a good pizza. The overwhelming amount of cheese, coupled with a dough that was overly-dry and flavorless was bad enough. Had there been an appropriate amount of sauce on the pizza, it may have added the much needed sweetness and freshness that the pizza needed to cut the dry, flavorless taste of the dough, and the saltiness of so much cheese.

Food is delicious but the last two times we have tried to order they don't pick up the phone after multiple attempts. Disappointing.

Stopped in for a slice. I had their buffalo chicken and my wife had a slice of their white pizza. Their crust is real thin and done crisier than other places. Their buffalo chicken although it had flavor it was light. Not really the norm for buffalo chicken. My wife's had spinach, tomato& riccato she said it really wasn't anything special. It's not our local favorite but it's not bad. If your hungry and passing through on Market St. Stop in you might enjoy it

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
